My first introduction to the world of energy was in 1972, when I discovered the Silva Mind Method. Following the intense instruction, my perceptions of life were altered with an understanding that there is energy and useable power in our unseen universe and in ourselves.
In May, 1995, I began taking my first classes in Reiki (pronounced ray key – meaning universal energy) and took each level several times with different Masters. After three years, with four different instructors in New Jersey, I became a Reiki Master in 1998. Since then I have also studied with two Masters in WV. I am certified in the Usui Shiki Ryoho, White Light and Sekhem-Seichim Reiki systems. In 2006, I studied with Reiki Master Joyce Hasija.
As a new paradigm gradually becomes awareness, the integration of natural energy is life changing. During my early Reiki years, I had my mother, children, grandchildren, niece, nephew and friends instructed and attuned. My mother, who was 85 years old and readjusting her beliefs to this new concept, would say, “I don’t know if it works, but it is working.”
Life energy is natural throughout the animal and plant world and I deeply believe that, with guided application and positive intentions, our natural energy can alter, balance and support the body at the cellular level. When Reiki is applied, it evokes a warm, tingling, relaxing feeling and able to gently re-pattern negative and toxic buildups.
In 2005, I was certified in another energy modality called Kolaimini, (pronounced ko-lame-nee meaning ‘connecting with the light’), and blessed to be taught by Patricia ‘Mechi” Garza, a Native American elder and Medicine Woman of Choctaw and Cherokee descent. Mechi brought this ancient healing method into our modern times. Kolaimini is gently applied in movements about 1 to 1 ½ inches above the body.
I am also certified in the application of EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT stimulates major centers in the face and body and releases the build-up of negative, damaging emotional energy.
My Reiki practice at the Folded Leaf includes individual Reiki sessions, classes for adults and children and on-going group sessions. As with all information, I bring a combination of my various disciplines into my Reiki practice.
Reiki and other energy modalities are being incorporated into mainstream healthcare practices and into a growing number of hospitals and related professions in conjunction with allopathic treatments.
